The Burbank Regional Intermodal Transportation Center has transformed a once-desolate industrial area in Downtown Burbank between the Golden State Freeway and the existing railroad right-of-way used by Metrolink into a new focus for a multi-modal transportation system. Bus, rail, pedestrian and bikeway facilities come together at the center, recognizing the critical connections required between transportation modes in creating livable communities.

Meléndrez created a fully landscaped environment highlighted with majestic palm trees that serve as beacons from afar and reinforce the circulation patterns of the center.

The center is a model for integrated land use/transportation planning serving the thriving film, television and multi-media industries in Burbank as well as the Civic Center and Media City Center Shopping District.
