Meléndrez joined the City of Long Beach this past Saturday for the fourth interactive community workshop event for the Green TI project. Visualizations of preliminary design ideas were presented for community review and input, and interactive booths, demonstrations, and free food celebrated the future open space.

The project re-visions a one-mile stretch of the Terminal Island (TI) Freeway, a wide truck-thoroughfare, into a community-serving green space, marking the first freeway removal project in Southern California. The green space will also buffer the West Long Beach community from air, noise, light, and visual pollution.

The community event was the last of four workshops held over the last year to gather input for the project vision. Implementation analysis, traffic impact analysis, design, and other technical studies were conducted to support the project.
