Meléndrez is pleased to announce that Alex Jung will be starting full-time in early July. After working as an intern the last few months while completing his Masters of Urban and Regional Planning at UCLA, Alex has proven a valuable asset to the team. He has assisted the firm with his industry knowledge, outreach facilitation, GIS work, and graphic skills.

Throughout his studies he remained active within the public and private sectors through a variety of internships, shaping his knowledge and understanding of the industry. This experience spans mobilizing hundreds of Tijuana residents to access public resources with the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, identifying regionally significant projects and mapping development throughout the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) region, co-producing the Green Alleys in South Park: Visioning Report for the Los Angeles Sustainability Collaborative + South Park Business Improvement District, and assisting in graphics, research, writing and preparation of reports for the Great Streets Initiative of the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office, including the Department of City Planning’s LA Great Streets: Complete Streets Manual.

Alex also received a Bachelor of Urban Studies and Planning, Cum Laude, at UCSD in 2012. He is President and Founder of Bruins for Urban Design and Development (BUDDY) and a member of American Planning Association (APA) and Planners Network (PN). In addition to co-producing the South Park: Visioning Report, he has also published Using Community Education to Improve Housing in Mexico.
