August 16, 2014

Earlier this year we announced the construction of the Marsh Park expansion. We are now excited to share Marsh Park’s new expansion held its grand opening on Saturday, August 16th! The public event, hosted by the Mountains Recreation Conservation Authority (MRCA) provided free refreshments and live music to create a festive mood. In attendance at the grand opening was the Marsh Park design team, MRCA representatives, and various public officials, including Mayor Garcetti. Mayor Garcetti expressed his thoughts on how the new Marsh Park expansion would help restore the Los Angeles River and to provide more open spaces. Mayor Garcetti stated that, "Open space is a rare commodity here in LA, so reimagining and transforming the LA River is critical to offering future Angelenos places to enjoy the outdoors, explore nature, and come together."

Meléndrez would like to thank everyone who helped on the Marsh Park expansion and hopes that everyone in Los Angeles can enjoy this great new public space!
